I had no prior experience of Indesign and found this book to be excellent. Very easy to follow and useful for all levels. Be sure to buy a new one though, as you will need a product code at the back to download lesson materials.

On the whole, the lessons in this book have been useful for increasing my existing knowledge of InDesign and helping me to plan technical lessons of my own. However, if you purchase this book for the latest info on DPS, lesson 15 for creating and exporting an ebook does not work at all.

I have followed the instructions word for word twice over with no success. Lesson 16 for creating an iPad application is very good. I recommend this book, but with this one caveat. I would have liked a little bit more information on how to work with long book files and how to export to EPub.

This is the third Classroom in a Book I've bought, and I highly recommend the series. I buy these books every time I get an Adobe Creative Suite upgrade. Learning the software has never been easier.

They come with files and detailed instructions for learning your way through the software. One person found this helpful. This book was a required purchase for a class that my son took. He got it in electronic format and enjoyed using it. Not sure if the book alone would allow you to grasp these concepts, but certainly after the class was over he had this as a reference. One of the concerns is that the directions for the experiences were sometimes confusing.

When using this in class, I had no trouble, yet I have seen many other classmates suffer to understand what exactly does it ask to do. I had to purchase this book for a graphics course I was taking, it was good in terms of expakinging but I don't feel fully equipped to use indesign. Great instructions and easy to follow. The short cuts are a big help. Steps also have images to help explain the process. Purchased for a class.

I found this book easy to use to bring myself up to speed on a new piece of software. I would recommend working through all the lessons in the book, in order, for anyone who's new to InDesign. This would probably be slightly less useful for those who know it a little and want to find out specific things, but would still be worth having in your reference library.
